Peat Chimney from Wemyss Malts, Blended Malt 46%, Natural Color

A blend of Malts from Islay, Speyside and Highlands

Talkingblends Whiskyreviews 69 Peat Chimney from Wemyss Malts, Blended Malt 46%, Natural Color A blend of Malts from Islay, Speyside and Highlands I like the range of Blends coming from Wemyss Malts. They create their blends on purpose and with that they deliver a really nice range of Blends. In Review 40 you will find the Spice King, a nice dram and I also enjoyed the Smoky Shores, no review unfortunately. Nose: Smell of ocean, bready, ashy smoke with a sour touch, sweetness from vanille Taste; Peppery, vanille sweetness with citrus bitters in the base, salty, a dry ashy smoke on top of that with lemon/sprite mineral bitters, cacao and slight salmiac. Finish; not too long, the above fading out with the dry ashy sours and bitters remaining, hints of cacao. It’s a compact blend that does what is promises; sweet, smoke, maritime and citrus. A likeable balanced blend where the sweetness balances the bitters and sour notes. It has enough to enjoy and offers pretty good value for money 85/100
